Dollhouse Miniature Cake Sizes #2

2017-01-27-44

Hi Everyone,

I have been baking in the mini kitchen for Easter.  I wanted to make another set of size comparison cakes.  Tonight I am posting chocolate caramel cakes.  I decided to cut and flake the cakes for a true comparison.

The one on the left is made for 1:6 playscale and the one on the right is 1:12 scale.  I created 3 layers for the 12th scale cake and made a 2 layer cake for the playscale size.  It seems like  more layers in the playscale size can make the cake look a little hefty and not sized correctly.  It really just depends on the cake type.

I will be making more Easter cakes to show soon.

Hope you enjoy!

Dollhouse Miniatures Cake Sizes

2017-01-27-65

Hi Mini Friends,

I am so excited today!  I have been baking in the Mini Kitchen.  When I first started making miniatures, I only made food for the fashion size dolls, 1:6 playscale.  Then I gradually started making a few 1:12 scale items.  I made things like cards, magazines & newspapers. Finally, I purchased a 1:12 scale doll.  Then I started making candy and small dessert items in 1:12 scale.  Now I have ventured into making cakes and cupcakes in 1:12 scale.  They are so cute and tiny compared to the 1:6 playscale items.

I have been creating new items for Easter and I had to show the comparison for the different scales.  I made 2 cakes in the same pattern.  The one on the left is in 1:6 playscale and the one on the right is 1:12 scale.

I think one of the major differences is the amount of clay it takes to create each cake.  Of course, the 12th scale takes a lot less clay.  The 1:6 playscale cake measures approx. 1 11/16 inches.  The 12th scale cake measures approx. 3/4 inches.  Big difference!  They are both fun to make and I love comparing the two different sizes.  I wanted to share the difference in the scales.  It truly is amazing.

Hope you enjoy!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Hi Mini Friends,

Our Valentine’s Miniature Cakes Countdown has come to an end.  The mini kitchen is now closed.  All of the Valentine Cakes, cookies, cupcakes and candy has been made.  Yes, my chocolate craving is finally over (well, not really)!  For our last countdown day, I decided to make a chocolate cake with strawberry icing decorated with pretty little pink roses.  The cake was made in 1:6 playscale.

Thanks so much for the journey!  Hope you enjoyed the countdown!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Valentine’s Dollhouse Miniature Cakes…Day 16

oct-16-2016-7

Hi Mini Friends,

The clock is ticking away.  I ran to the store and Valentine’s Day gifts are everywhere.  I keep looking at the chocolate heart boxes and all of the candies.  So when I get back home and start baking in the mini kitchen, all that I can think about is chocolate!  Go figure!

When I decided to bake a cake for today, I thought about more chocolate.  But not just ordinary chocolate.  I wanted a mixture of flavors.  So today I decided to make a chocolate checkerboard cake with chocolate icing.  The cake was made in 1:6 playscale.

Hope you enjoy!

Valentine’s Dollhouse Miniature Cakes…Day 15

dec-24-2016-68-day-14-13th

Hi Mini Friends,

Today is a very chocolate day.  We have been baking many new items in the mini kitchen today. We have baked a lot of sweets, from candy to cakes, to cookies and cupcakes. We even cooked a few petit fours for the holiday.  All of this baking makes me want and crave more sweets.  And of course, when I think of sweets, I think of chocolate.  Yummy, yummy chocolate!

So today, I decided to make a heart shaped cake for Valentine’s Day.  Our countdown miniature cake for today is a chocolate heart cake with creme and cherries on top. The cake was made in 1:6 Playscale.

Hope you enjoy!

Valentine’s Miniature Cakes…Day 14

jan-11-2017-46-day-12-11th

Hi Mini Friends,

Today we have been busy cooking up lots of goodies in the mini kitchen.  It has turned a little hot outside.  It feels like another spring day.  That makes me want some serious sweets!  And of course, Valentine’s Day has chocolate boxes & chocolate candies everywhere.

So today, I decided to go mega chocolate.  I made a chocolate cake with chocolate ganache topping.  So we have a chocolate on chocolate cake.  So yummy!  The cake was made in 1:6 playscale.

Hope you enjoy!

Valentine’s Miniature Cakes…Day 13

2017 01 26 (63)day 13, 10th.JPG

Hi Everyone,

Today has been a really cold and a little “snacky” day.  I just felt like eating sweets today.  I thought my mini’s would enjoy sweets today too.  I thought it might be a little chocolate day and maybe something else.  So I settled for caramel.  Sounds yummy!

So today for our countdown, I made a chocolate 2 layer cake with caramel frosting.  I added some little chocolate bits on top.  The cake was made in 1:6 Playscale.

Hope you enjoy!
